About the Project
The FJS Plant mobile application is the field-ready companion to the FJS Plant digital ecosystem, purpose-built for site managers, fleet operators, and procurement officers who operate in demanding, connectivity-challenged environments. The mission was to extend the full power of the FJS "Sales, Service, and Repair" platform into a fast, intuitive mobile experience. We transformed complex machinery management workflows into a streamlined on-site tool that puts million-euro asset control, emergency service dispatch, and real-time inventory browsing directly in the operator's pocket.
The Business Challenge
01 The Field Connectivity Gap: Construction sites often have poor or no internet connectivity; the app needed a robust offline mode to ensure critical machine data and service requests remained accessible regardless of signal strength.
02 Complex Data on a Small Screen: Translating detailed technical datasheets, hydraulic specifications, and parts catalogs from desktop to mobile required a complete UX rethink to avoid information overload on smaller screens.
03 Emergency Response Speed: When a machine breaks down mid-project, every minute of downtime costs money; the app needed to reduce the time from "fault identified" to "technician dispatched" to under 60 seconds.
04 Multi-Role User Management: The app serves both field operators (who need simple fault reporting) and fleet managers (who need advanced analytics); designing a single interface that serves both without compromise was a core challenge.
Strategic Roadmap
Offline-First Architecture: Built a local data sync engine that caches critical machine specs, service history, and parts catalogs so the app remains fully functional without an active internet connection.
Role-Based UX: Developed two distinct navigation modes—"Operator View" for on-site workers and "Fleet Manager Dashboard" for procurement and management teams—accessible via a single login with permission-based access.
One-Tap Emergency Protocol: Designed an SOS-style "Emergency Breakdown" button as a persistent UI element, allowing operators to trigger a service call with machine ID, GPS location, and fault description pre-populated automatically.
Push Notification Engine: Implemented a proactive alert system for scheduled maintenance windows, parts availability updates, and technician ETA notifications to keep all stakeholders aligned in real time.
Key Features
- Offline Machine Library: A fully cached, searchable catalog of every FJS machine—including specs, manuals, and service intervals—accessible without internet, built for remote quarry and agricultural sites.
- AR-Assisted Parts Identification: An augmented reality scanner that allows operators to point their camera at a machine component to instantly identify the correct OEM part number and check live stock availability.
- Live Fleet Tracker: A GPS-integrated dashboard giving fleet managers a real-time map view of all active machines, their operational status, and upcoming service due dates across multiple sites.
- Digital Fault Logger: A structured reporting tool allowing operators to document machine issues with photos, video clips, and voice notes, automatically routing the report to the correct FJS service engineer.
The Results
- →Downtime Reduction: The one-tap emergency dispatch system significantly cut the average response time between a machine breakdown and a confirmed technician ETA, directly protecting client project timelines.
- →Field Adoption Rate: The offline-first architecture drove rapid adoption among site operators in remote agricultural and quarry environments where previous digital tools had failed due to connectivity issues.
- →Parts Revenue Growth: The AR-assisted parts identification feature increased genuine OEM parts orders by streamlining the identification process and eliminating incorrect part purchases.
- →Fleet Visibility: The live fleet tracker gave FJS's largest clients a previously unavailable level of asset visibility, directly strengthening long-term fleet management contracts and customer retention.
